     The Montezuma Fire District celebrated it's 50th year protecting it's residents in September of 2008.  The district was formed after World War II, and formerly established as a fire district in 1958.  The district also placed in service it's newest piece of apparatus - Support 18-1.  At the open house, there were refreshments, handouts, equipment demonstrations, and the Support unit was blessed by the local church before being placed in service.

 

The District and all it's personnel would like to thank everyone who participated, contributed, and showed their support for this occasion.  Thank You.


     The Fire Apparatus shown above is the Breathing Air Support #181.  Housed at Montezuma Station 181, 2405 S. B Street, it has been recently been placed as the District’s frontline unit for medical calls.  With it’s air cascade system, allowing it to refill SCBA cylinders on scene, it also fills the role of Breathing Support unit in and out of the fire district.  It has also been manufactured and equipped to assist, support, and augment structural firefighting, vehicle accidents, and aircraft rescue firefighting tasks.  Some of the equipment carried consists of an air chisel / air hammer system and air operated heavy lifting bags.   Hurst “Jaws of Life” hydraulic cutting and spreading tool and power unit.  Medical equipment, hand tools,  a 2000 watt Honda generator and 500 watt telescoping scene lights, power equipment, such as portable saws, and ratchets, and multiple hand tools for forcible entry.  It also has Firefighting capabilities with a rear mounted pump, 225 gals of water, and multiple attack lines.
